Card 03 · Player Spotlight
Pick one player. Give your friends a call they'll remember.
In shortPlayer Spotlight is the third of Puck Party's five cards. You pick one player from either team to answer tonight's question, like who scores the first goal, who spends the most time on the ice, or who records at least three shots on goal. The question rotates from game to game.

Picking a winner is a coin flip with a lean. Picking the guy is personal. Get it right and you're the smartest person in the room for the rest of the night.
The questions
One per game, from a rotation of seven:
- Who scores the first goal?
- Who will spend the most time on the ice tonight?
- Who will have the most shots on goal?
- Who will have the most hits tonight?
- Pick a player to record at least three shots on goal.
- Pick a player to record at least three hits.
- Pick a player to record at least two points tonight.
First goal scorer
The one people remember. You're picking one player out of everyone who dresses, and even the league's best scorers only open the scoring a handful of times a year. When you get it, nobody can say you didn't.
A few things that help: the top line and the first power-play unit get the early shifts, shooters get more chances than playmakers, and your favorite player isn't more likely to score because you'd like him to. Save that for the heart pick on Game Winner.
Don't know the third line?
You don't need to. The card shows you the players with their number, position and team, and the Worth knowing clue gives you one thing to go on. Learning a name or two along the way is part of the fun, not homework.
How it's graded
- First goal means the first goal of the game, by either team.
- Regulation and overtime count. The shootout doesn't.
- If your player doesn't end up playing, the pick is called off, not marked wrong.
- Stats come from the official game record. If the league corrects one after the game, your card updates and says so.
