The two sides are picked to be a real contest, always one from each team, so the card is never a gimme.
Worth knowing
The clue on a Matchup card is usually how close the two really are, like "Their averages over their last ten games are 2.2 hits apart." Enough to lean one way, never enough to be sure.
Meet somebody new
Matchup will put a fourth-line grinder or a shutdown defenseman in front of you now and then. You don't need to know him before the game. You'll know him by the end of it.
